Strathcona County Fire Fighters became affiliated with the International Association of Fire Fighters on September 16, 1975. The local originally consisted of 16 members.

Our operations staff work out of 4 stations, staffing advanced life support ambulances, fire suppression and rescue services. Our members in the emergency communications centre provide 911 call taking and dispatch services. We also have members working in fire inspection and investigation, training, OH&S, and more.

Our emergency response members are trained as firefighters and are also registered paramedics. The alarms ring in the hall and we respond in the appropriate vehicles for the response, often working as a team at vehicle collisions requiring extrication and EMS. The same can be said at structure fires. Our firefighters can provide suppression and rescue efforts while providing a high level of medical care without waiting for a separate service.

Our dynamic and ever evolving department is proud to provide the highest level of service to the community. We have a technical rescue team, water rescue team and an unmanned aerial vehicle team providing coverage for our community.
